of course chinese artists deserve their place on the world charts, and they will definitely make it even without bulk sales because china has a huge population and market. but y’all comparing apples to oranges if you use existing bulk buy numbers to mock the rest of the world.

you can’t buy the same song twice on itunes, yet it’s a totally different arena in . I’ll give the example of bts, a non-chinese act — if you buy 10 copies, you’d unlock this on netease. that’s how things are there. it’s ok to admit regional differences.

bts is a guest in your country, this promo game is invented by your own domestic music giants. at the moment, it seems like those cpanies are more interested in squeezing money from the chinese people than bringing their system in line with intl norms. like, why would they?
