and a farewell to @JackDromeyMP my labour shadow minister and friend these last 3 yrs, who has been moved 1/

Pension policy is v long term.
EG The groundbreaking #PensionSchemesBill has taken 2+ yrs of x party work:

#pensiondashboards, creates #CDCs, lets pensions be climate change aware, combats scams + creates #saferbettergreener pensions
Jack + I have worked together on this 2/

To deliver policy change (particularly with a low majority) requires x party work in @HouseofCommons

This genuinely involves ministers + shadow ministers meeting, talking, texting, discussing policy, reaching out to key stakeholders, MPs + whips to drive forward change 3/

Policy sometimes takes multiple govts:

#AutomaticEnrolment was conceived by labour, started under the Coalition and really expanded by @Conservatives so that 8% a year is now being saved into a workplace pension by over 10 million people

And while the work is sometimes adversarial, Jack and I remain good friends, occasionally disagreeing, but normally working x party. He was exceptionally kind when I suffered a family bereavement in the summer and I want to wish him and @HarrietHarman well / End
