A thread: 1/ I’ve been overwhelmed by emotion tonight. The vast majority of the protestors who went to dc yesterday genuinely believe the democratic process is in shambles. Some of my family was there as well.
2/Those who stormed the Capitol believed the “fix” required was impossible to be achieved within the system. My initial reaction is to be appalled at these people, but I remember they have been ideologically victimized, isolated, emboldened and encouraged by none other than Trump
3/ They respected their president, sinking their emotional investments into him every time they had to defend him to a greater and greater extent. They voted him in to be anti-establishment, because they had been countless times screwed by the system,..
4/ but they failed to comprehend that anti-establishment ≠ authentically pro-America. Trump told them that their way of life, their democracy, and their voice were at stake, while announcing the culprits to be every person who dared to hold him accountable.
5/ In the end, they had no one to trust but Trump. Their country, their leaders, their democracy let them down, and putting faith in the one orange beacon of hope was their only way out.

Yesterday you had two types of people: those who used trump to fuel their hatred..
6/(screw them), and those who ate up each lie trump and each of his MAGA influencers fed them. The second type are victims. While all must legally be held accountable for their actions, we must not forget our biggest enemy is not our fellow American...
7/ but rather the lying instigator, as well as the establishment which made them feel desperate enough to believe trump was their last hope.

And now he has even let them down. America is hurting.
