I much agree w/ this FA piece. It addresses 1 vital idea western political writers nearly NEVER does -TRUST.

TRUST is simple -
* It is earned by deeds, not words.
* It is broken by lies, not honesty

In the years since the ending of WWII, America simply has told too many LIES.

It has indulged in a peculiar self-deluding concept know as "American Exceptionalism".

"American Exceptionalism", in practice, translates into:
*X is bad but good when America does it;
*Y is good but bad when someone else does it.

This premise for the construction of a sustainable world order cannot stand.

It's that simple.But American polticians make it very complicated. Very strange in the eyes of this thinker. ~~
