my 25 favorite songs of all time

ordered as best as i could, w my favorite lyric from each and a short description

any support appreciated, this literally took 2 days lol
25. Feel Good, Inc. - Gorillaz

This song has lived rent free in my head from the first time I heard it..... that infectious bassline, tremendous rap verses, beautiful bridge... one of the most well-made “hit” songs ever.
24. Flight of the Navigator - Childish Gambino

Gambino’s desolation somehow provides.... comfort? A song that’s gotten me through so much, it makes you feel like there’s someone there for you, no matter how alone you feel sometimes.
23. The Glow, Pt. 2 - The Microphones

After the seamless transition from “I Want Wind to Blow,” this track begins w loud chords before transitioning into some of the most vulnerable vocals i’ve ever heard. Absolutely beautiful.
22. Puke - Beast Coast

One of the most introspective tracks on EFNY, I love how the group explores the connection between their substance use and their pasts. The outro is one of my favorites ever.
21. Accordion - Madvillain

Nothing short of a masterpiece, DOOM spits quotable after quotable over a melancholy droning like only he could. One of the most iconic underground rap songs of all time.
20. Burning in the Skies - Linkin Park

A favorite from my childhood, I still remember going to buy the CD the day this album came out. Bennington’s beautiful voice floats over the cloudy instrumental, signaling remorse, yet understanding.
19. 3 Headed Snake - Gunna

While this may seem like an odd pick, it defined my 2019 summer. Young Thug’s range is absolutely inhuman.
18. Rearviewmirror - Pearl Jam

This starts off as an average 90s rock song..... then slowly grows to an incredible climax. Probably my favorite “break-up” song, even if it’s closer to a “fuck you.”
17. Lazarus - David Bowie

Just an absolutely fantastic song from start to finish.... that little guitar riff, Bowie’s haunting melodies..... one of my favorites to smoke to.
16. Pilot - Tyler, the Creator

Cherry Bomb is back to being my favorite Tyler album, and underrated songs like this are part of it. The unorthodox mixing adds to the message of being lost, but knowing you deserve better.
15. Halftime - Young Thug

Amazes me everytime I hear it. The lyrics are hilarious, the beat is ridiculous yet bass-heavy, and Thug’s flow is just so smooth. The 14-second long “skrt” is enough for this to be top 15.
14. Luper - Earl Sweatshirt

In the early days of Earl’s fame, it was very rare to hear him rapping about sadness at all, especially about having his heart broken and dreaming of a family. His wordplay is excellent.
13. Good Knight - Kirk Knight

Nothing but exceptional verse after exceptional verse. Not much more to say besides a smooth beat, and features from Joey Badass, the Flatbush Zombies, and more.
12. Butterfly Effect - Clockwork Indigo

An epic song that not enough people have heard. FBZ & UA’s collab EP opens w this song - discussing the struggles of today’s America, w Janet Jackson samples scattered throughout. A must-listen.
11. Potholderz - MF DOOM

The song that got me into the super villain.... the beat alone is enough to get your head nodding, but DOOM and Count Bass D’s witty lyricism make this such an enjoyable track. Puts me in a good mood every time.
10. Herb Shuttles - The Underachievers

An early favorite rap song of my mine.... Issa Gold and AK the Savior trade verses for 3 minutes, absolutely SPITTING. They rarely stop to catch their breath, try rapping along.
9. Blood on the Leaves - Kanye West

The first Kanye song I ever loved, from that first “strange fruit hanging.....” I was hooked. The sample is used perfectly, the beat switch is seamless, and Kanye’s dark lyricism fits like a glove on this track.
8. Oh My Dis Side - Travis Scott

The ultimate trap banger, no song gets me more hype than this. I can perfectly time every single Quavo adlib (there are TONS,) and the second half of the song is quite good too.
7. Skin - Mac Miller

Mac’s flow, the beautiful angelic voices in the background, and the chorus w a dark meaning.... the most overlooked song in his discography.
6. Valerie - The Weeknd

Introspective Abel at his finest, this song is sometimes hard to listen to bc it hits so close to home. You can literally feel the pain in his voice, how he lies to Valerie bc he knows neither one wants to be alone.
5. Seigfried - Frank Ocean

Another song of nothing but intense emotion, all 3 parts of this song are nothing short of remarkable. The spoken word part is sad enough, but the desolate outro leaves you staring at the ceiling.
4. Dogs - Pink Floyd

A 17-minute masterpiece. Dark, heavy lyricism, one of the most beautiful guitar riffs in music history, and the transition from Gilmour to Waters’ melancholy voice make for an incredible listen.
3. Weird Fishes / Arpeggi - Radiohead

The constant progression and layering matched w a tremendous Yorke performance provides a breathtaking experience. The most beautiful song I have ever heard.
2. Downward Spiral - Danny Brown

Just what makes Danny so fucking special, I can’t think of another rapper ever who could make this song. Deeply, openly honest, funny yet you don’t wanna laugh, bc you know just how sad it is. Amazing.
1. Your Favorite Rap Song - Flatbush Zombies

7 1/2 minutes of my favorite rappers rattling off punchlines. Please listen to this song. Meechy Darko’s verse alone is jaw-dropping.
