Felt a bit helpless earlier as I made a comment to Frangie & Hays about Lot J and they addressed it on air w/o me being able to have any kind of rebuttal.

So, let me be clear; Lenny is a terrible leader. I’m on record w/ that & there’s very little he could do to change my mind.
With that said, my issues w/ the way the Lot J deal is structured and what the project consists of have very little to do w/ my dissatisfaction w/ our Mayor.

Fundamentally, I have issues w/ giving a billionaire a handout that has very little context behind why it’s needed.
My issue w/ it has very little to do w/ the fact that Lenny is a clown. My issue is that I care deeply about this city and I wrestle w/ the fact that all of this money could be used to help a segment of our population that we left behind long ago.
Now, I’ve incurred a bit of backlash for having an opinion that demonstrates anything but blind support of this development.

Frangie said earlier on his show that he refutes the assertion that this money could or would be used to help crumbling parts of our town.
An assertion that is laughable at best and negligent at worst. Frank went on to say that if that were the case, surely it would have been tried before now or that it should have. And that’s the conversation that’s lost here. It’s an important one. Why do we continue to neglect
areas of our consolidated city? Why do we not invest in the right things as a city? I don’t have those answers. But I’m very confident in one thing. That would be the fact that we haven’t done a good enough job TRYING to.
Many of the ppl that blindly support this thing and enter my mentions or DMs with criticism are the same folks that would complain about paying more in local taxes. So, the question then becomes: Where does the $ to do what we need to do come from? The answer is the general fund.
Just so we’re all clear, that’s the same general fund that we’re pillaging for Lot J. You see? It’s awfully difficult to subsidize a billionaire AND do what should have been done long ago for parts of our city. That’s what I wrestle with. ME - a guy who loves this team deeply.
This thing is gonna pass. I won’t throw a fit when it does. I won’t bat an eyelash, frankly. I have hope that this will be the thing that somehow spurs downtown development.

That doesn’t mean I don’t have a brain or a conscience to wrestle w/ while we all examine it.
Because, in reality, it doesn’t affect me directly. It’s Easy for me, though. My part of town isn’t on septic systems that back up. My side of town has sidewalks where needed and it’s safe for my kids to play.
I love the Jaguars, but I love this city more. I won’t ever apologize for either of those things. It feels dirty that a billionaire even puts us in the position to possibly need to.
Go Jacksonville. Go Jaguars. #DTWD
