Hawley's understanding of "Orwellian" is Alanis Morissette's understanding of "Ironic"
To clarify: I think Hawley HAS read Orwell, but thinks Napoleon was the hero of Animal Farm. And apologies to @Alanis who is a goddess, and as a Canadian I'm sure has a great sense of...what's the word...the opposite of what the outcome you'd expect is? Slipped my mind.
To continue the Orwellian theme: Hawley may be voted into power by people who don't know that "Big Brother" means something other than their favorite TV show
Also, I don't think Hawley's really suited to be an Orwell guy -- he oughtta try Ayn Rand, I think he'd really dig that.
Further: he said Orwellian, but did he mean Kafkaesque? Because he woke up as a giant cockroach at some point in his life, but just leaned into it.
