So I finally got around to finishing the plot of the Crown Tundra!! Honestly overall I think Gen 8 is my third favourite Generation (with Gen 4 being 1st and Gen 5 being 2nd) Warning long and rambly XD (1/12)
Gen 8 imo does a lot of things right and has taken a lot of steps forward in both gameplay and catching them all e.g.
- The implementation of DLC over making a third title
- Showing the type effectiveness of each move in the menu

- Providing access to hard to get Trade evolutions through normal capture and (to a lesser extent since thats more a result of the community not the devs) providing the means to easily trade for specific evolutions and exclusives (3/12)
- (I do have some critiques of this but do consider it a step forward for the newcomers) Providing methods to save time on grinding through the exp candies
- Providing access to WAY more pokemon than what would normally be accessible in previous titles (4/12)

- Lastly as a concept excluding some plot points the overall gym challenges were presented beautifully imo. Making it a big event makes the gym battles/champion league feel more like a big thing compared to the games before it (5/12)
It's just unfortuante with where it falls short...it falls short HARD imo
- The main antagonist is sort've just forgotten about until right at the end and even then the motives boiled down to impatience (6/12)

- While I didn't mind Team Yell, couple it with the iffy writing of the main antagonist I can see why they would be annoying to some
- The base post game is imo very shallow and their isn't really much to it; you beat two dudes, do a short thing and get the box legend (7/12)

- The forcing of the EXP Share, while the concept is fine...it shouldn't have been forced onto players. While it considers newer players well, it doesn't consider older players who likely know their way around alread (8/12)
- Lastly cutting the dex. While I understood the reasoning, the game while graphically very stylish I'd argue it could've been a lot better to say the dex was cut for it. While they did somewhat pull it back with the DLC mons it definitely should've been handled better (9/12)
There was the idea of locking pokemon behind paywalls but since they've given everyone the ability to get them via trade thats no more worse (or better) than the version exclusives where you either would have to buy the game yourself, trade with a friend or get lucky solo (10/12)
Anyway I could rant praises and flaws for days hell I didn't even cover all the praises and flaws I had for the game XD I do need to actually conclude the rant lol (11/12)
Overall Gen 8 is better than I've seen people give it credit for but ultimately I think it definitely needed more love, care and polish to make itself better in terms of story, the exp options and the dex itself. (12/12)
