I don’t understand the argument that pointing out the double standard or contradictions or hypocrisies of whiteness somehow doesn’t help people to develop racial consciousness.
Understanding that whiteness is built around such hypocrisies & constant contradictions is the basis of understanding structural racism. That’s not the same as expecting whiteness to self correct. I feel like ppl forget others are constantly moving from unconscious to conscious
I promise you there are many people who witnessed what happened yesterday & for the first time fully understood this dynamic. That’s as far as they are today & that will be reflected in the public dialogue. It reflects a shifting of the collective consciousness
