White silence precedes white violence. Always.

White violence demands complicity. Always.

The silent white majority is in fact silent in the face of grave injustice and also the majority. What does this mean?

Their silence gives permission to bigotry fully realized in it's most violent forms.

White people in the silent majority do possess the power to pull the plug on the violent minority if and only if they refuse to stop being complicit.

Until that happens, we will continue to see bigotry in its most violent forms.

Make no mistake the white silent majority constitutes of those who may be appalled by the actions of the violent minority, but refuse, and at times, go so far to excuse, the actions of the violent minority.

Someone may ask: Why hold the silent white majority accountable? It's really as simple as this:

Your silence may kill me. I may die because you turned a blind eye. And we've seen people die at the hands of white silence and complicity.

I will end by sharing how I've seen white silence manifest in the last 24 hours:

- Discussing work as normal
- Failing to elevate the perspectives of Black people
- Failing to check on Black and Brown peers and students
- Denying the gravity of racism in this country

- not calling the terrorists.. terrorists as such
- making excuses for why they are "misunderstood"
- openly refusing to condemn peers who are touting similar rhetoric
