A mob of President Trump’s supporters barreled past fence barricades and clashed with police officers in an attempt to disrupt the certification of the Electoral College results on Wednesday.

Here’s a look at how they managed to storm the U.S. Capitol. http://nyti.ms/3s4YWgI
Following a Trump rally near the White House in which he once again falsely claimed widespread voter fraud, his supporters made their way toward the Capitol where Congress was certifying the Electoral College results.

At the Capitol, they became more violent and destructive.
At first, the Trump loyalists congregated along a police barricade outside the western steps of the Capitol. http://nyti.ms/3s4YWgI
But many soon barreled past fence barricades, clashed with police and forced their way onto the steps of the building in an attempt to disrupt the certification process.

They swarmed both the western and eastern sides of the Capitol’s exterior. http://nyti.ms/3s4YWgI
Members of the mob broke a window, and broke through the main doors on the east side of the Capitol’s central building, which led into the Capitol Rotunda.

The crowd began to flood into the building. http://nyti.ms/3s4YWgI
Police barricaded the main doors to the House chamber. Officers drew their weapons to protect House members as the mob gathered outside the door.

Lawmakers were given gas masks and evacuated through the lower levels of the Capitol. http://nyti.ms/3s4YWgI
The mob moved freely within the Rotunda, and some of them vandalized the statues ringing the area. http://nyti.ms/3s4YWgI
During the attack, police seized five guns and arrested at least 13 people, but many dozens more were allowed to go free. http://nyti.ms/3s4YWgI
In the Senate chamber, many members of the mob roamed freely.

A suite of offices used by Speaker Nancy Pelosi near the House chamber was also breached. A man was pictured sitting with his feet raised on a desk in one of the rooms. http://nyti.ms/3s4YWgI
The mob was on Capitol grounds for hours until they were cleared out by police. Congress reconvened about 8 p.m. Eastern to certify the Electoral College results.

The votes for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were certified early Thursday. http://nyti.ms/3s4YWgI
