Even #regenerativefarming uses the language of mastery towards nature. Enticing nature onto our land, as ‘ecological tools’ (not ‘ecological hindrance’) and referring to how it ‘pays for itself’ but beware as these are not the only reasons to have nature on our land #ORFCGlobal
The government also pays farmers to look after nature. Sets idea that only worth doing something nice for nature, if you’re going to get paid for it #rachelhosking
#rewilding is so supported in the UK because we have such a domestic landscape.’ (Also think it’s supported through a sense of romance). BUT the way rewilding is promoted is still with language of dominance, it’s not about us being interwoven with nature....
To recognise our view of ‘pristine wilderness’ (at this point, you could wonder what could have been if more historic explorers were women....) and that it is not necessarily a reality. The Amazon more recently described as ‘one of the oldest forest gardens in the world’
‘The term ‘wilderness’ is a Western concept & many cultures around the world don’t have a specific term for nature, as they don’t see a dominance or a difference’ #rachelhosking A calming insight that would serve our mindsets well to think about #naturalconnection #ORFCGlobal
