Simon & Schuster cancels a book about Big Tech’s tyrannical viewpoint suppression without a trace of irony. https://twitter.com/jonshorman/status/1347314846132543492
Those on the right who say “well he deserves it” (for exercising a right all senators have & which has been done in various forms in 1969, 2000, 2005, & 2017), you, uh, might want to think about your true priorities.
People with takes like "it's good that a private company is exercising its rights" or "he can publish somewhere else" are correct, but completely (intentionally?) missing the larger point. This is illiberalism by corporations that have & will collude. It's going to get worse.
And to those on the left who aren't worried about it, wait until the pendulum swings, because it always does. Encouraging this kind of behavior to punish your political enemies wins in the short term, and eats you in the end.
A GOP that feigns helplessness in the face of collusive corporate power is a GOP that is irrelevant and will die. Many of these companies benefit because of gov't care and carveouts. Stop privileging and prioritizing the companies who hate us.
