i've been wildly distracted for the last two days for good reason. but i feel very lucky to spend the rest of the day working on a book chapter about our resistance. so lucky
there's so much i wanna say and share, but for now, I hope we are listening to organizers and artists and scholars who are cautioning us against calling white supremacists "terrorists"
its a national security version of calling for cops to be convicted; the terrorist designation is created for people who demonstrate political antagonism towards the nation state. these people were trying to preserve the nation state
calling for "terrorism" and "seditionists" lends itself to increase state surveillance and violence against activists, people like me, who are actually critical of the nation state and should be trying to dismantle it
but, using the "double standard" logic of what's terrorism and what's not to call for the state to be more violent will backfire against us and further reify all of the state violence that we've been protesting for years, decades, centuries
