Simply saying, “that’s not MY Jesus, they don’t follow MY Jesus” in response to the “Jesus saves” signs at the Capitol is not the comfort to your neighbors that you think it is. That’s not your Jesus? Then protect your Black neighbors. Your Jewish neighbors. Your LGBT+ neighbors.

And keep in mind, this protection will likely involve escorting people out of your church building and out of your life who believe that IS their Jesus. Or escorting YOURSELF out of a house of wolves that claims to be a house of God.

Reducing wolves in sheep’s clothing to “not true Christians” will only enable them to do MORE damage to the Church. Not to mention it pushes away your responsibility to protect your neighbors from violent belief systems & cultures that will destroy them. Trumpism is one of them.

Yes, Jesus will say to them, “depart from Me, I never knew you”, but that doesn’t mean you don’t have a responsibility to evaluate who in your life (including yourself) is pushing back against systems & cultures of abuse & hate, and who is only continuing to perpetuate them.
