A lil thread about the design process of Last Stop.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, I had the idea for a game about looking out of a train window *whilst I was on a train, looking out the window*
1/?
What was unusual is that unlike previous games I've designed, this one came to me fully formed - what if I wrote a game that captures the experience of travel, of impassively watching entire landscapes come and go?
2/?
I knew I wanted it to be a solo experience - travelling is often solitary, and I wanted to capture that in the game. Writing prompts determined by a deck of cards seemed to make the most sense, as it was simple and portable.
3/?
It also meant that in theory the game could be played *whilst on a train*, an idea which tickled me.
4/?
I could sort the prompts by suit, with a thematic link between prompts of the same suit. But what sort of prompts did I want?
