Leftist revolutionary action threatens the system of corporate private property and is met with the full brunt of the police state. Rightist reactionary action – no matter how bigoted, violent, and unhinged – bolsters that system and is met with selfies and mulligans.
The reason the Capitol Police let yesterday happen is the same reason the Chicago Police and FBI executed Fred Hampton in his sleep while allowing the Ku Klux Klan to exist to this day.
The Pentagon and CIA are perfectly happy funding, arming, and training rightwing reactionary death squads (the even-more-extreme version of what you saw yesterday) in nations around the world in order to overthrow socialist governments that threaten corporate capital investment.
What the US empire will not tolerate – either at home in the imperial core or abroad in the periphery (where corporations' raw materials and cheap labor come from) – are organized threats to corporate capitalist wealth accumulation. This is what our military exists to crush.
