Gonna get real. Do not feel you have to hold it together. If you are not able to focus, if you feel lost, unmotivated, emotional or as if you are having to force yourself to functional. Do not be angry or frustrated with yourself.
We're in a collective state of grief, shock and anger stemming from the current political climate and a pandemic that has decimated our previous state of existence. We are experiencing trauma compounding trauma compounding trauma.
And we are all experiencing this without safety nets, there are no safe spaces or resources beyond what we can offer through mutual aid. Any sense of stability & any illusion that we had of a fair and just society is gone, for some of us we never had the luxury of that illusion
Be patient with yourselves, be kind and gentle with yourselves as we move through stages of denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. A breakthrough is coming, healing is coming but right now we just need to take care of ourselves and survive.
You are not weak. You are not broken. You are not defeated. You are hurting. You are angry. You are scared. You are tired. That's okay. Breathe. Rest. Take time for yourselves, be still, be silent.
Never forget who you are, YOU BRAVE, BEAUTIFUL AND DARING SOULS. You are changemakers, healers, creators, dreamers....you are the light in this darkness. It's okay to burn dim, but never lose sight of your power to shine bright.
