So on the 18th of April 2020 it was Zim Independence day. I tweeted “maZimba drop your snaps below” and of course my snap was there and people also dropped their snaps. People added me and I added them.
including the person I’m about to mention. The twitter user who goes by @r2bxsy also used to be @_xrcmx_ goes by ‘Ropafadzo Maisiri’ added me. She popped up on one of my snaps flirting with me.
Moments after I asked for a picture because I didn’t know what she looked like. I asked for her age, she said she was 18, then i asked her for a pic after she sent it that’s when I took a step back.
She would pop up from my snaps time to time and there’s a time when she checked on me when i wasn’t active but i didn’t see it as anything. In my head all i thought was ‘she’s cool people’ so that’s when we became friends.
sometimes she would pop up complementing me a lot but that wasn’t the problem. But looking at it right now I was oblivious and I should have known.
Anyways we continued to interact time to time and even myself i was surprised that we became friends from socials because really and truly for someone to be friends with me it’s always in person.
We follow each other’s burners ‘2bxsypriv’ and finally after 9 months I saw her face and in my head i was thinking wait is this the girl i’ve been friends with all this time.
She looked different from the snap she sent me in April so i went on snapchat to see the video and it was gone. In my head i’m like minor so i keep it stepping. But anyways we were in mid convo on snap so i facetime her for the first time.
On the facetime call i’m just laughing saying “rah i didn’t know you looked like this blablabla” and bare in mind this girl doesn’t have media on any socials except from the burner. And has never posted media on snap.
She goes and says yeh that’s me...we continue speaking on facetime and it was like i was getting to know a whole different person. She started flirting which I was used to so for the first time i complemented her and we kept talking about our burners.
I started flirting back. She goes to say “It’s been 9 months and you finally noticing me nhai Tino”...i laugh it off and i continue to say well now i know what you look like.
So in that same 1st week we planned to meet up on the weekend. On the day, she cancels and says she forgot that she booked shifts off for christmas and she has to work the weekend to make it up.
I didn’t mind so I was like calm we will reschedule and she said cool. Now we facetime time to time but there’s one problem, she’s always in the dark! I ask her to switch on the light she says it’s far or she’s tired to get up, and i always call late all those excuses.
I’m like calm anyways it’s minor cah you’ve sent snaps of what you look like. The next day I call her and same thing i kept asking to see her face and it got heated that we just ended the phone call. And on this day she deactivated her socials except snap.
The following day i facetimed her in the afternoon and guess what! HER FACETIME WASN’T WORKING! She goes to say “it’s your phone, your internet” blaming my side.
I’m like calm hold on let me try ringing my friends. I rang my friends and it was working perfectly fine, and i even asked them to ring to make sure it goes through my sides.
I call her and tell that it’s her sides but she’s strongly refusing, so i give her my icloud to facetime but it’s still not going through. I then gave up because it was getting long.
NOW all of a sudden her facetime works after midnight when it’s DARK looool dfkm. I laugh because what else can i do. I keep quiet but that’s when i started investigating her and getting suspicious cah i might be getting catfished.
So the information I knew about her was from what she told me which is: She goes Coventry Uni, 2nd Year and she went to West Coventry Academy.
Bare in mind I have friends in cov so i asked her if she knew them and she said no. I then ask one of my friends if they knew Ropafadzo and they said yes but they haven’t met her and they were meant to meet up but she will not always pull through it’s always excuses with her.
That got me questioning cah why does someone plan on meeting up with you then avoid to see you so bad at the last second.
I then ask my friend what do you know about her and they mention that she goes BCU and she’s first year. SO now i’m confused and my friend is telling me that’s what Ropafadzo told them in May 2020 on twitter dms.
At this point i’m sure she’s a catfish. I tell her to call me with her facetime working and her light on, she agrees but GUESS WHAT! she calls at 7am of course it’s going to be dark!
I gave up and for a week I was just entertaining her because i didn’t want her to clock i’m suspicious.
I then posted snaps about catfishes and my other friend popped up and i told them about it. Later on they ask me if they the girls twitter is @_xrcmx_ and ofc i didn’t know so i tell her no it’s not her. now i’m curious. i search the @ on twitter and it links to @r2bxsy
From then i was in shock so i went back to tell my friend yes it’s her, how did you know? They tell me that one of their friends was speaking to her. So they contact the guy and the guy is saying his story and it the same as mine. He was one of the victims.
Now my friend asks the guy for the pictures of her. He sends them and GUESS WHAT! it’s a whole DIFFERENT girl!!! The guy explains his story saying the facetime never works blablabla, the same as me.
My jaw dropped. Now i’m on twitter and i tweet “lool i got catfished
” and my other friend messages me saying is it @r2bxsy. Now i’m flabbergasted and my blood is hot.

Couple minutes later my other friend calls me on behalf of a guy asking me if the girl is zim etc. Long story short the guy was then added to this call and he explained everything and we had the same experience with Ropafadzo.
He tells me he was suspicious before but I confirmed it with him that it was the case. He mentions other guys who were involved with her. So at this point there’s about 6 guys that got catfished.
Now we all made a group chat because we wanted answers. Others guys didn’t know until I showed them receipts and they were in shock.
Later on I call her and guess what no answers. I messaged her and she says she’s speaking to her mother and i’m like cool. i return on snap to say “who really are you behind this phone?” and she’s like...
What do you mean, it’s me. And of course she wasn’t accepting what i was saying. She then ignores me for a day and from that i took it as confirmation of what she was doing and that’s CATFISHING. Bare in mind now i’ve got a video of what she actually looks like
I text her telling her we need to talk like adults and get to the bottom of it. She agrees, so the next day i called her at around 4pm and during this call i was stating that she was a catfish and she completely looks different.
She denies it over and over! The only thing that was left was for me to see her face. I asked her to facetime me, she said she was busy but she would facetime me later. Later on she called.
Yep it’s a whole different person. On the facetime call I asked her so you actually think you look like her? She agrees and says “it’s me though, i don’t know what you want me to say Tino”
So we kept going in circles. At this point it wasn’t getting anywhere. I asked her for identification documents she denied to show them. From that i just gave up.
That was the last time I spoke to her. It wasn’t going anywhere as she was lying everytime. I don’t even know why i thought she would own up.
Time has now gone by. Ropafadzo reactivates her instagram account ‘ @r2bxsy’. My other friend that i informed about this clocks and goes through all her followers.
We finally found the girl she was using to catfish people. She stole all media from her instagram. From then I went to dm the girl about the whole situation.
She was surprised and confused so I told her the whole story from the start. She tells me that Ropafadzo is her ex step siblings cousin but the two aren’t related or can onnected. She doesn’t even know her real name and never met her.
So she went to ask around and turns out this wasn’t the first time she’s catfished people. And now she’s told the family members about what she’s been doing and it’s being taken care of.
I made this thread so you guys that interact with her could be aware of who you are actually talking to. She’s not who she says she is. She lied about everything to everyone. Anyways y’all be careful out there.
now that Ropa knew she was in trouble, she dms the girl...
