Was sorting donations at a community residence today and i felt compelled to just touch on certain items that are needed in these places / what to consider when donating.

Sweaters and long sleeve shirts are a MUST. Coats and any warm winter clothes are a must as well. There were an abundance of coats here but virtually nothing for ppl to layer with!!!

PLEASE just throw away the super worn and thin stuff thats damaged. Its rags at that point and we want people to be CLOTHED, not just covered at the bare minimum

PLEASE NO USED UNDERWEAR AND SOCKS !!! bro i found a lace thong in donations and eye- yall know better.

Walmart and a lot of bulk locations and department stores sell undergarments for the low low. Please consider that instead. If you have old used undies, just toss em.

Bras are cool but IF AND ONLY IF the underwire and other parts of the bra isn’t worn down. Little girls would need training bras and things like that as well.

CASUAL CLOTHES THAT ARE UNDAMAGED !!!! t shirts, jeans , trousers, sweatshirts , hoodies, whole 9 yards. Try to steer clear of like super outdated, used, or eccentric clothing. Its not practical to the people you’re giving to.

BACKPACKS , SCHOOL SUPPLIES, BEANIES , ALLAT. JUST YES. ALLAT.

Kids pjs and kids clothes are actually very generously donated , BUT if you have uniform clothes, its appreciated.

And just to close! I would never nitpick on peoples kindness, this is just a thread to show whats really useful! Thank you for anybody thats helping these organizations esp when the weathers cold

If you want some help transporting or delivering these clothes in the Baltimore / MD area, dont be afraid to DM me for any contacts, pick ups, or resources. Ill be doing this with my sister on my days off.

And kids books !!!!!!!! Kids activities ! Preferably educational or something fun for them.
