Clarification from the DFE today that nursery classes in schools and maintained nursery should remain fully open.
Please can we see the scientific evidence which the government has used in order to make this decision. Very young children are not able to socially distance.
Staff who work with them have no ppe and regularly come union contact with their bodily fluids .
We have had over 1,000 deaths from covid today and yesterday. We need up reduce transmission. Wherever groups gather together we increase the risk of transmission .
The new strain of covid is highly infectious. Some nurseries I work with have up to 80 children in the setting. That’s potentially 80 families mixing. How can we protect our communities if this is allowed to continue?
