Unlike the Capitol, nothing can break into the hockey bubble. https://twitter.com/usahockey/status/1347206788114890753
I don't need thoughts and prayers or whatever from teams and players who have sent zero time thinking about this stuff. What I do need is some acknowledgement that hockey is engaged with the rest of the world. Right now, it's clearly not.
Clearly, the sports whiteness means they as a league and as players don't have to reckon with yesterday's events, and their apolitical complicity.
All the talk about NHL players wanting to take race, inclusion seriously starts with engaging with truths like white supremacy that was on display yesterday. It starts with being a citizen in the world.
And no, this is not about reporters asking questions to players. It's about players and teams needing to understand that they need to do this on their own, not after a being pushed into by public demand.
That's not really true. I get what you're trying to say, but I don't need that on the feed right now.
"It's never been engaged" is an easy way to brush off and excuse their behavior and not demand better.
