Frank Lampard and the Cognitive Biases :

A Thread.
Let me know if you can point out any other Cognitive bias that I missed
Confirmation bias. This type of bias refers to the tendency to seek out information that supports something you already believe. People will cue into things that matter to them, and dismiss the things that don’t, often leading to the “ostrich effect"
Availability bias. Also known as the availability heuristic, this bias refers to the tendency to use the information we can quickly recall when evaluating a topic or idea—even if this information is not the best representation of the topic or idea.
"Klopp asked for 4 years for his project"✅

"Klopp is an experienced manager and he Liverpool has shown steady results since his first full season with remarkable results in his second full season" ❌
Hindsight bias. Hindsight bias, also known as the knew-it-all-along effect, is when people perceive events to be more predictable after they happen.
The halo effect. This bias refers to the tendency to allow our impression of a person, company, or business in one domain influence our overall impression of the person or entity
Fundamental attribution error. This bias refers to the tendency to attribute someone’s particular behaviors to existing, unfounded stereotypes while attributing our own similar behavior to external factors.
This is just one of many examples where Lampard get's a free pass that Sarri never got or some other manager would never get.
For Lampard, there was no pre season a& his signings needed time to adapt. But by the middle of the season, Sarri was the worse thing to happen to Chelsea
The Dunning-Kruger Effect. This particular bias refers to how people perceive a concept or event to be simplistic just because their knowledge about it may be simple—the less you know about something, the less complicated it may appear.

⚙️RICE IS THE LAST PIECE OF PUZZLE⚙️
Status quo bias. The status quo bias refers to the preference to keep things in their current state, while regarding any type of change as a loss. This bias results in the difficulty to process or accept change.

I can't specify an example but ya'll know how it is.
In-group bias. This type of bias refers to how people are more likely to support or believe someone within their own social group than an outsider.

The support yer local comments on fans who want Lampard out and the claim that all foreign fans are glory hunters.
THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE NOW

The Sunk Cost Fallacy describes our tendency to follow through on an endeavor if we have already invested time, effort or money into it, whether or not the current costs outweigh the benefits.
Following the tight finances across the elite clubs of Europe, Chelsea, having enough funds from the sale of a few players and following a transfer ban took the opportunity to buy some of the elite talents that top clubs wanted.
Real Madrid couldn't afford Havertz.
Liverpool didn't go for Werner outright and allowed Chelsea to sweep in.
Chelsea bought Ziyech uncontested even though he has been a target of quite a few top teams.
Leicester dropped Chilwell's price tag enormously.
The pandemic ain't over and the elites in Europe are struggling. The overall spending in coming windows will be far less than the average spending over the past 5 years by clubs like City, Barcelona, Juventus and Real Madrid.
A lot of top clubs like Liverpool and Bayern...
... have an aging squad.

So even if I were to agree on the whole Lampard Project being a 4-5 year process, it will be incredibly stupid of us to not immediately dig in our claws into the situation in hand and make the best out of our investments
We have an elite squad. And I have seen no signs of significant improvements under Lampard, tactically. We still are far away from an identity. To keep going because "WE CAN'T ABANDON THE PROJECT" seems pretty stupid. Now is not the time to be patient. Let go of the sunk cost.
