Quick thread: It's notable that so many on the right are unwilling to acknowledge the political significance of yesterday's storming of the Capitol complex during the certification of the electoral college votes.

Why is that?
If your message is to compare yesterday to BLM and the summer riots in terms of people hurt, property damaged, media reaction, whatever, you're avoiding the meaning of the event. Yesterday was insurrection. It was of a different thing. Comparing the two is a category error.
That's not to defend the riots over the summer. It's to call things by their proper name and file them in their proper category. And to note that what happened yesterday was far more dangerous to our political order and way of life.
Yesterday was insurrection intended to disrupt and thwart a legal transfer of power from one lawfully elected president to the next.

It was intended as such by those who organized it, carried it out, and incited it. This can all be proven & I suspect will be by law enforcement
You're going to see the BLM comparison often over the coming days, weeks, and months. It will be beguiling to some, but it is ultimately meant to mislead.

Call it out!
If all you can do is send out screenshots of tweets defending BLM, the summer riots, or the cover of Vicky Osterweil's pathetic book in an effort to identify some sort of hypocrisy, you're engaging in bad-faith debate.

Yesterday was insurrection.
