I see Brendan O'Neill is upset that we're calling people wearing "Camp Auschwitz" hoodies fascists. This is clearly the real danger here.
If a gang of self identified Nazis smashing up Government buildings while demanding a democratic election is overturned *aren't* fascists then who are exactly? Does he need them to be goose-stepping and singing the Horst Wessel Song?
The fact they were extremely inept in their fascisim doesn't mean they're not. The Beer Hall Putsch was a farce. The March on Rome was almost a complete disaster etc etc....
The 1923 versions of O'Neill wrote plenty of pieces along the lines of: "the real danger to Germany is not this bunch of clowns who couldn't organise a putsch in a beer hall but the liberal elites under Gustav Stresseman who are suppressing the freedoms of populist leaders."
