It really is a sign of the extraordinary times we live in that a conspiracy theory that denies the existence of disability rights activist, author & lecturer #HelenKeller is an actual thing- but it's 2021 & nothing appears to be off limits.

Ridiculous & absurd as these conspiracies are (that #HelenKeller was neither deaf nor blind, that she was either deaf or blind but not both, or that her disabilities were exaggerated- or didn't exist at all)- ableism is at their heart. Theories that are being readily believed.
The dangerous outworking of conspiracy theories were played out yesterday in front of the Capitol in DC. Social media companies ( @tiktok_us) need to stand up for #disabilityrights and stop these harmful messages. Disability hate crime was on rise already w/o such conspiracies.
