/ Not prosecuting follows the tragic precedent of Reconstruction. But I guess you would have to remove from office and arrest the ringleader first before you can move against the domestic terrorists he would pardon. @BillCassidy seems the only one worth @'ing here.
/ The White League had many supporters. They plundered the state arsenal and the US Army allowed them to march out with their guns in 1874. They came back in 1877 to run the state. This lack of political will had a dark legacy:
/ Eventually the 14th Amendment came to mean nothing after the Cruikshank decision. "Oh well, what can we do" became the federal government's response to domestic terrorism.
/ And so a century of lynching with impunity followed. The murder of Cheney, Schwerner, Goodman, Medgar Evers, Emmett Till, four little girls at the 16th Street Baptist Church. All knowing that they would get away with it.
/ And their smug supporters watching from the country club, their fearful, subservient staff pouring cold drinks, could look on with approval. Maybe hire some of these guys to manage one of their grocery stores. But not invite them to dinner.
/ So if you do nothing @BillCassidy you can expect more of the same. And worse. Because it's all happened before. Please encourage your colleagues to draw the line.
