a thread on properly taking accountability for your actions on social media cuz some of yall need it:
1) delete whatever you said/tweeted/posted that was problematic. no point in keeping it up if its hurting somebody, however including a ss of what you said is appreciated so ppl can hold u accountable and know you arent twisting what actually happened.
2) apologize. when apologizing, do the following in order:
- state what you did to make you apologize
- explain why what you did was not acceptable and that you understand what you did was wrong.
- actually say something along the lines of "im sorry" or "i apologize" +
+
- explain what you are currently doing to better yourself and make sure you wont repeat your mistake.
-explain how in the future you will be different from present you.
- do NOT act like a victim or guilt trip anybody while writing your apology.
3) be understanding that not everyone will be forgiving. and thats okay.
4) do not argue with the people/person you offended, you are in the wrong not them.
5) do NOT repeat your mistake. steps 1-4 are useless if you are going to go back to your past behaviors. learn from your mistakes.
6) its best to not post for a little bit after taking accountability on social media. try waiting a day or longer, posting about unrelated things right away doesnt show that you care and are rethinking your actions.
hope this helped, lmk if i said anything wrong or forgot to include anything.
