Jamie’s demand is that he gets to do whatever he wants judgment free... and Cathy wants him to not just love but prioritize her. Ultimately they want things from one another that are antithetical to who the other person is
Also I can say all this and that the real problem is they were a bad match from the start and still maintain that Jamie is a jackass lol. Anyone who doesn’t think so needs to talk to a male writer irl for 5 minutes
I think one of the flaws of the show is that Cathy only gets one song not about Jamie (I can do better than that) which makes it easier for ppl to see her as just a nagging wife. But otoh I get that the relationship was generally more central to her life than his
