2) We have seen this before... it is not something new. White people being emboldened to wreak havoc and domestic terrorism under the current occupant of the White House isn’t a new phenomenon.
In 2017, I served as the Vice-Mayor of Charlottesville, Virginia. We learned a lot.

3) Similar to what the world witnessed yesterday at the Capitol, White Supremacists came to our city with one goal:
“Fulfill the promise of our President and take back what is ours.” - David Duke, leader of the Klu Klux Klowns

4) Just as it was then, it is right before our eyes now. The same sentiments were shared, “If this were Black people, we would have been mauled and left for dead in the street. Not allowed to assemble and take over.” America is rooted in White Supremacy, so it is not surprising.
5) White Supremacists are doing everything that they can do to hold on to what they believe belongs to them.

1. Continue to mobilize, organize, and win political seats on the local and state level to implement policy to create equitable change within our communities.

2. Every Black person needs to educate themselves and equip themselves with a firearm or weapon to be able to protect themselves and/or their families.

9) White supremacy doesn’t die overnight, in a year, or across a decade. We must continue to fight back.
