THREAD: Who bears responsibility? Are you angry at your friends and neighbors who supported Trump? There is reason to be.

But step back and look. Our fellow Americans who voted for this regime did so because they believed it to be the best course of action. Why?...(1/18)
Lack of leadership. Lack of truth. Lack of responsibility by those who hold levers of power, which includes politicians in office, media entities, corporations.

We live in a world where "free speech" and independence are valued....(2/18)
So, when people - particularly those in power - take a stand on something or, in the reverse, refuse to take action when they could, those people actually bear the bulk of the responsibility for what happens. This is why they take oaths to uphold the Constitution....(3/18)
...Because they have a special duty. A special responsibility. To preserve our special form of government from all enemies...foreign AND domestic.
Mitch McConnell and Josh Hawley and Kevin McCarthy and ... the list goes on...(4/18)
...know a certain constituent population can be manipulated and molded based on that population's sense of grievance and raw emotion. They knew this just as Donald J. Trump knew this.
But individual people mean individual votes. Votes mean power...(5/18)
Control the views and thoughts of those who own the vote and you control power. Use the raw material of people who are angry, who aren't yet angry but could be convinced to be, and of people who are aggrieved at the fact that they are losing power to minorities...(6/18)
Use that raw material as fodder for your cause. Their emotions will in turn feed the frenzy of mob action. It will spread like a cancer. Tell these people they have an entitlement...they have a birthright...and that it's being taken away...(7/18)
You will enrage people and they will follow you...off a cliff...down a dark path. People will die for this cause, in fact.

When a person - a group of people - a mob of people - have this mentality, this RAW material,...(8/18)
...it is easy for those who seek power to use it to their advantage.

And that's precisely what Josh Hawley was doing and continues to do. He is a brilliant, educated man who lacks a moral compass...(9/18)
...He twists the idea that people have "free speech" and other "freedoms" into the notion that people can and should have free run of the place.

In so doing, Hawley, eyeing Trump's base as his nascent own, and following Trump's proven tactics,...(10/18)
...made the conscious choice to set aside and even eviscerate the institutions and traditions...the stuff that constitutes what we Americans consider to be our "exceptionalism."...(11/18)
...He takes a legalistic stance (that objections to electoral slates CAN legally be made within the Congress) instead of taking the morally superior stance of peaceful debate and respect.

In so doing, Hawley and his ilk disregard the GREATNESS of our country,...(12/18)
...the respect we citizens have always demonstrated toward the peaceful transfer of power...in the name of what CAN be legally done. Hawley knows damned well that there was no moral or rational basis for what he did...(13/18)
...But he did it for his own political gain, at the cost of our national integrity and unity.

Trump is corrupt & narcissistic. He has a keen instinct for exploiting raw human emotion for his own benefit. By taking actions that no one before thought would ever be taken...(14/18)
...simply because they so outrageously go against our tradition - he took the low hanging fruit and destroyed what he could.

The danger we face now is in those figures who follow. The Yale-educated Josh Hawleys who reside in Congress....(15/18)
...Those who have schemed their whole career, waiting in the wings for their chance to strike. The opportunity to inherit a body of people with raw emotion was a temptation too great to miss. It was time to strike...(16/18)
...It went against the very moral fiber of Hawley's congressional colleagues. It was a risk for him. But it was a risk he was willing to take if it meant he could one day become president.

Now we are left with embers of democracy....(17/18)
...Because people who, purportedly in the name of "doing what their constituents wanted them to do" sinisterly enflame emotions, partner with the amoral, and pull the trigger, we are left with a nation in shambles.

Hawley and his instigators must be expelled. (18/18)
