This afternoon on Day 3 of the #kyga21 session, the House and Senate are expected to pass through most if not all of their Top 5 priority bills in each chamber. A few detailed in here: https://www.courier-journal.com/story/news/politics/ky-general-assembly/2021/01/05/kentucky-general-assembly-kicks-off-tackling-abortion-covid-19/4135296001/
House Bill 1 up now in the House, which will let businesses and schools and other orgs stay open despite Gov. Beshear's emergency orders so long as they meet CDC guidelines. #kyga21
House Bill 1 passes 70-23 on a mostly party-line vote.
House Bill 2 now on the House floor, which gives Attorney General Daniel Cameron the power to regulate abortion clinics in Kentucky. This passed in last year's session and was vetoed by Beshear.
HB 2 passes 75-18. Now on to HB 3 that would divert cases away from Franklin Circuit Court to a randomly selected 3-judge panel of judges from across the state. #kyga21
HB 3 passes 69-24, over objections of Democrats who say it is unconstitutional and will be quickly struck down in court. Now on to HB 4, to push back the closing dates of legislative sessions. #kyga21
HB 4 passes 77-16. Now on to HB 5, which prevents a governor from temporarily organizing a state board or commission. For example, what Bevin did to UofL board or Beshear did to Ky Board of Education right after taking office. #kyga21
Rep. Meredith again refers to an article in "Louisville Future" in 2017. (No such site existed then, he's referring to Insider Louisville) #kyga21
HB 5 passes 73-22. Orders of the day now empty.
