Stop calling them protesters. They were white supremacist, anti-democratic forces colluding w/police & government officials (eg Trump & others who've been emboldening, expanding and inciting these forces).

Stop calling for more cops, more surveillance & more training. Yesterday's lesson wasn't that police "failed" or they need more resources/training. In DC, NYC & elsewhere it revealed, again, that police don't protect democracy. They protect white supremacy https://twitter.com/Vanessid/status/1346906560769839107?s=20
The police didn't "fail". They weren't "caught by surprise". They facilitated & some colluded w/white supremacist forces - not only in DC, but at occupation attempts at capitol/government buildings across the country https://twitter.com/awinston/status/1347039581850501121?s=20
Like @monifabandele reminds us, don't forget #MiriamCarey, killed in a hail of police bullets w/her 1 year old in the car as she drove *away* from White House. Yesterday wasn't an isolated incident, it was part of a long history of white supremacy https://twitter.com/monifabandele/status/1346921254209679365?s=20
Anyone in this moment calling for more police/surveillance/training is naive, ahistorical, dangerously misleading and/or working in the service of white supremacy. The lesson of yesterday isn't to make policing "better".

Thankful for national groups who've been clear abt the continued threat of white supremacy & need for lasting solutions that support Black liberation & racial justice, like @Mvmnt4BlkLives @ConMijente @NYWFP & others. Support them & local forces fighting for all of us if you can.
