randy's whole bit about approaching the object of desire without reaching it is what happened. its its why they didnt really do anything when they got inside. its why the anprim guy looks so confused. its why the *rioters* filed in in an orderly line and followed the rope fences

when they reached the object of desire, actually *stormed* the building as they had fantasized, they didnt know what to do anymore, the fantasy had become reality, the script didnt exist past here, so they just... left.

this is why none of them even thought to hide their identities, because it just wasn't *real* to them - it was an elaborate masturbatory exercise that got out of control

i dont mean "not real" in a flippant way - i mean very genuinely that they cannot conceive of this event as part of *real* life, because they are narcissists - and these riots, like all the other political riots in the states, are extensions of their identity
