Think about this ^^ when you read history. You know that vast swathe of people currently going “this is effed up” with very little power to do much about that effed-up-ed-ness when larger powers are moving pieces on the chess board?

The great lie of democracy, of republicanism, of communism, of anarchism, whatever - is that we can make accrual of power cease to exist.
We can’t.

What a CULTURE can do is develop power/elites that are more or less virtuous, more or less respectful of the individual, more or less desirous of all flourishing. Who restrain their OWN power to give ppl a voice.
But not having any powerful elites?
Ain’t happening.
Ever.
