January 6, 2021, at 11:44 AM Eastern Time: The President arrives to speak.
January 6, 2021 at 12:05 PM, an hour past the scheduled start time, the President took to the podium. Again, your story was posted before anything happened. Why and how?
The crowd was reverent, not violent, mostly taking photos to capture the historic moment after waiting in frigid weather for so long.
During his speech, @POTUS says “I will march with you to the Capitol.” Here are 4 images of the President during that speech. He clearly told the crowd they would go together, peacefully but firmly, to make sure Congress did its job.
Why was this important for him to say? Because @VP Mike Pence might not send the contested Electoral College votes back to the states. The message was to elected officials: The people will remember what you do today.
January 6, 2021 at 1:39 PM — loud clash between “protesters” and police. @POTUS is not there. A man is yelling “you swore an oath!” How did it all of a sudden turn so nasty? The answer is that infiltrators had mixed into the crowd and were instigating confrontation.

1:41 PM on Jan. 6. Many faces are covered here. A man is saying to the police officer: “Courage, you need courage.” He is repeating the President’s words from his speech.
Remember the President said it would take *more courage to do the wrong thing* presumably due to the consequences. Meaning that doing the right thing, sending the votes back to the states for proper certification with all knowledge intact, should be easy.

Jan. 6, 1:44 PM - A genuine Trump supporter engages in dialogue with a police officer, trying to get him to see that racism is used to manufacture hate. This is common with Trump supporters - we try to explain where we’re coming from and it falls on deaf ears.
There is chaos. The police look like they don’t know exactly what’s going on. A protester says through a megaphone:
“We love America. That’s why we’re here.”

During the Capitol protest I thought to myself that the President had said it would be “wild.” I actually thought he wanted this.
But by 2:20 PM yesterday 1/6/2021 it didn’t look right.

2:22 PM you see protesters calmly walking into the Capitol - because they’ve been let in. There are no guns, there’s no shouting, they’re just walking.
2:28 PM 1/6/2021 PBS (I think it was Judy Woodruff’s show) reporter talks with protester, physically verifies he was shot by police (they shot first), he says it’s like 1776 (this is a MAGA/Q/Trump theme), “fed up with our politicians,” but they look like confused tourists.
