1. Sitting overseas thousands of miles away from my beloved country right now, I’m a bit late with my thoughts on yesterday. It was certainly not America’s best foot forward. Political violence, should be swiftly condemned.
2. The situation in Washington, however, must not be viewed in a vacuum or simply through the lens of media pictures, it’s deeper. Where we find ourselves today is a reflection of fault from both political parties,
3. where failures to condemn political violence over the past year and success in fomenting it have been significant contributors.

Currently, our country is very tribalized, and it is truly hard for people not to fall on one side or the other.
4. Simply dismissing half the country, no matter the disagreements or even contempt for them, has the potential to lead to disastrous consequences. For example, everyday Americans, millions of them,
5. who believe there was fraud in our elections should not be silenced or dismissed as conspiracy theorists, this is not peacefully sustainable.
6.
We need high minded men and women who can rise above the emotions of the day to help lead us back to our country’s imperfect unity. The task is not an easy one, but a necessary one. The winners of our elections should let the losers up easy, indeed, lift them up by the hand.
7. Our national fabric has endured much historic stretching before and its resiliency can bounce back once again, that will be up to imperfect men and women who need to lead w/the understanding that those who they disagree with aren’t the enemy, need a voice & are to be respected
8.
History is filled with examples where nations, filled with imperfect people, failed to be able to tone down the temperature, continued to isolate and dismiss the voices of large portions of their populations’ political voices. The results were never pretty.
