For all the #NHSheroes past and present we're taking a look back at uniforms across the ages. Let's start with the ladies...

In the 1800s nurses wore heavy skirts, tight fitting corsets & thick stockings. A hat & apron would also be worn when nursing patients. Key chains could weigh over 2lbs and were used well into the 1960s. This uniform is a replica of those worn in the 1890s at #StanleyRoyd
This later uniform dates from around 1983 and the green belt & bronze buckle indicates this would have belonged to a fully enrolled female Mental Health nurse. Are there any nurses out there who still wear a nursing fob watch?
