You know what I really like about Hibike! Euphonium?

It doesn't try to be more than it really is.

The beauty of Hibike is that instead of being a complicated mess with very little depth, it's a simplistic yet intricate and meaningful story.

It feels real. It COULD be real.
Kumiko isn't some kind of all-knowing super human capable of solving every problem on her own. She acknowledges what she can and can't do and acts based on those assumptions.

She's just a high schooler, same as everyone else and that's good. That's what makes it so interesting.
I can't imagine being in high school and having issues with a friend only to have this random classmate come in and try to meddle with things that aren't concerning her.

Kumiko works with the same principle.

Thank god. Honestly.
Hibike is fantastic. It's written and directed to let characters breathe, take shape and form a social construct on which the story and events are heavily influenced.

In its mundane and sometimes petty drama, you'll see a reality you can relate to. That's the highlight for me.
