Hate crimes targeting Black and brown people went up 17% just between 2016-2017 alone and have risen every year since. Under Obama, there was a dedicated full-time staff of 40 people in the Office of Targeted Violence and Terrorism Prevention, operating on a budget of $24 million

When Trump came into office that budget was reduced to $3 million and the staff dwindled to less than 10. After gutting the DHS office he pulled all funding for grants that were meant to go to organizations countering neo-nazis, white supremacists, and antigovernment militants.

Did you know that Obama was the only candidate in the 2008 presidential election who was assigned a security detail *before* the primaries were even over? It was because he was getting SUCH a high volume of death threats from white supremacist groups that the DNC expedited it.

Throughout the Obama era the FBI and DHS worked together closely to counter the growing domestic white nationalist threat. During Trump's first week in the White House he changed the name of the Countering Violent Extremism program to 'Countering Radical Islamic Extremism'.

All the infrastructure that had been labored over for 8 years of the Obama administration was instantly torn down and blocked at every turn. Trump spent the next 4 years downplaying the threat of white nationalists despite growing extremism and violence. It was 100% By Design.
