IMO intentional weight loss is always rooted in fatphobia but I also understand that being in a fat body in a world that hates fatness means facing violence on the daily. For those engaging in IW please remember to be kind to yourselves
What does being kind look like to me?
1. Not equating a failure to lose weight as a mark on your character. You are not gluttonous, lazy or lack willpower because the scale did not go down this week
2. Do not buy detox teas, juice cleanses they will not help you lose weight

3. The fitness industry thrives on selling you stuff you do not need a waist trainer or a sweat belt
4. Consider what being “healthy” looks like to you, thinness does not equate to health nor do you have to train 5 days a week

5. If you can afford it get a coach or trainer. These people are qualified and know what they’re doing. This is especially important to help you with form which is key to working our healthily. BUT do not let a coach push you to a weight loss focused program
5 cont. You are the client and you know what you want to gain from training. No one should tell you how you should look or what your goals should be
6. Actively follow people who look like doing the kinds of workouts you’re into whether that’s powerlifting, yoga, body building. You don’t have to lose weight to be a great lifter. You can be good at these sports at whatever weight you are
7. Cardio is not the key to weight loss. If you don’t like it don’t do it, there is no need to punish yourself on the treadmill. You do not need to be punished for looking the way you do
