For everyone saying the cops let the insurrectionists go because they're white, you're not wrong but there is an additional layer: it's because they are white fascists, just like the cops. White leftists are not treated so well.

The captains of capital need the fascists (cops) and the cops need the capitalists ($$) it's a match made in hell. And of course both groups hate the leftists, who literally just want a society that works for everyone.

And this, btw, is why "defund the police" made such huge waves. It's all about this corrupt money relationship. Same as with pillaging Roman armies, etc.

And this is also how/why money has so deeply corrupted our "democracy." It's hard to see how to disentangle these two elements of "stable" (always simmering) society. It's even harder to see how to disentangle on a timescale relevant to climate and ecological breakdown.
