..queers as well. the erasures around trans men are fucked, so i wanted to make sure that this applies to everyone.
ok, so i changed my gender from M - X, not M - F. from what i know, it is possible to get it changed to the binary gender of your choice, your doctor just needs..

..to be on board with it (more on that later).
when you go to your nearest nadra office, make sure you tell them you want to get a card made for a transgender person, and ask them for a copy of the affidavit for name change if thats something thats a part of you..

..transitioning. from what people in the community have told me, they're technically not allowed to ask you for a medical certificate if you're changing your gender from M to X or F to X, but in my case they did, and i was tired enough, not to argue; i should have. ..
..once you get the text of the affidavit, you need to get it printed on stamp paper. usually the nadra people will tell you if theres a photocopier nearby who does that. this costs around 50 rupees.

..waqil--to clarify, you can ask the nadra people or even the photocopier you got it done from where the nearest place to get this done is. i got it done from clifton centre for around a 100.

..all you need are two witnesses, jo koi bhi ho skta hy, no need for it to be family. HOWEVER, you do need some fam for verification later on--i havent reached that stage yet.

to summarize, you'll need:
1. a copy of your nic
2. the attested affidavit on stamp paper for your name change
to summarize, you'll need:
1. a copy of your nic
2. the attested affidavit on stamp paper for your name change
3. a medical ceritficate is not somethin they should legally be asking you for if youre changing your gender to X, but they might. insist that its not required. if you're changing it to F or M, they will probably require it
4. a written application (can be handwritten)
4. a written application (can be handwritten)
to add to 2. the stamp paper needs to have the signatures, nic numbers, and names of both your witnesses
lastly, if any of you need help, mein saath chalun gi and we'll make sure it gets done. the process is actually pretty streamlined, but i know buhat anxiety hoti hy. wishing you all all the love.
so im still at the part of the process where im waiting 15 days for this to pan out, i'll add to this thread as needed. parental/sibling verification comes after those 15 days.
one more thing i want to add is that i was deadnamed multiple times, and the worst part was the fact that they take a picture of you (seperate from the nic picture which hasnt happened yet). i want to emphasize that i dont know if this is legal, and if someone has any..
..clarity, i'd really appreciate it.
also, there's a lot to think about with getting your id card changed. from travel to inheritance and bank stuff, it's important to really consider this decision. not trying to dissuade anyone, bc god knows it can be so important, but just also keep this in mind.
