Classify this under "too little, too late," but it needs to be said.

The excuse many Republicans used tonight to justify not objecting to the electors was that the Constitution limits them.

This is inaccurate. Federalism is about checks and balances...
What we've seen with the 2020 election was, at the very least, highly questionable. To say that it was thoroughly investigated, adjudicated, and voted on by state legislatures is an absolute lie.
Voter fraud is unconstitutional. The oath of all on Capitol Hill is to support and defend the Constitution. If they believe there is a serious possibility that voter fraud on a massive scale took place, they should have been first in line to call for an investigation.
Many Republican lawmakers argued that they believe there was voter fraud, but it would be unconstitutional to fight it because that should have been done by the state legislatures. But here's the thing...
You cannot use the Constitution to justify not fighting an attack on the Constitution. Again, remember their oath is to defend the Constitution. Since voter fraud is unconstitutional, they were duty bound to, at the very least, initiate an Election Commission to investigate.
Think of it from the angle of a different scenario.

Imagine if a state legislature voted to send electors for Bill Clinton. That is, according to the feckless GOP lawmakers, their right and responsibility and there's nothing Capitol Hill can do about it, right?
The problem with that scenario is it's unconstitutional to send electors for someone who has already served two terms as president.

Do you think lawmakers would say, "But they're the state legislature so the Constitution does not allow us to fight something unconstitutional!"?
If Republican lawmakers say they do not believe voter fraud took place and that's why they're voting to accept electors, they would be fools but at least they'd have grounds to stand on.
By saying the Constitution prohibits them from fighting attacks against the Constitution is the type of contradiction that drives The Swamp.

Shame on @RandPaul.

Shame on @SenMikeLee.

Shame on any so-called "constitutionalist" who abandoned their oaths for political expediency.
