I still don't have a term for this...institutions that depend on the center-right for their legitimacy coming to be run by a class that despises those very same people, uses those institutions to attack them, and ultimately destroys said legitimacy. /1

Obvious example would be the FBI. Prior to Russiagate, respect for the FBI was highest among center-right normies. But the FBI is run by backstabbing liberals, who used it to orchestrate a coup against a President those normies loved. /2

Consequence is the normies now view the FBI as a criminal-political organization, but the left despises the FBI as well. Nobody trusts it now, they have nobody to rely on. /3

By and large, governmental legitimacy depends on normies believing in mainly exists for the common good, that it's not just a gang of thieves and crooks. Problem is both parties are run by people who detest normies. So we had four years of the state... /4

...attacking and undermining normies. Mueller investigation, zero meaningful arrests or prosecutions for the coup, cities allowed to burn, charges dropped on antifa, fake impeachment, looking the other way @ election fraud. And now what? /5

The GOP wants to "rebuild" as a McConnellite org. But, uh, who are they going to build on? The voters they kept stabbing in the back? The party has totally lost legitimacy. They couldn't even muster the will for a *symbolic* opposition to Dem fraud. /6

The government, as a whole, is now viewed by the people they depend on to maintain orderly lives as criminals, liars, crooks, and murderers. An org that lies about everything, sends our sons to war for lies, lies about votes, and lies about the laws. How does this end? /7

Joe Biden strikes me as a less gay James Buchanan. This isn't a time for a doddering old fool to scoop up cash and hand it out to his friends. Even granting a Democrat victory, the only way to calm things down is to establish that yes, the government is legitimate. /8

That means politicians who get caught sleeping with Chinese spies DON'T get to sit on the Intel committee or stay in Congress. It means there are SERIOUS consequences for agents who turned the FBI into an arm of the Clinton campaign. It means ferreting out corruption. /9

The Democrats don't know how to do anything but throw gasoline on the fire. Any time an honest person shows up, he gets smeared as a "Russian asset" and shunted off to the side. They only know how to be corrupt and become more corrupt. /10

This isn't a story that has a happy ending. Ironically, NOT cheating in November and just letting a 2nd Trump term happen, and NOT fucking around with coup attempts was their best shot at restoring state legitimacy. /11

Instead, the people who let masked thugs burn down cities just to intimidate you are in charge.
