Liberals were utterly incapable of believing their own eyes: a violent white nationalist coup attempt. Twitter, Facebook, Parler, Telegram has been full of open planning of violence. How to smuggle in guns, what weapons to bring, talk of civil war and stacking bodies. And yet...
All the lead-up reporting called it a "rally," "protest," "demonstration." The media were incapable of even entertaining the idea a white mob planning violence being egged on by Trump to be violent might be violent. They could not conceive of white Americans as a threat.
There was no security failure. The Feds have >20 law enforcement agencies. More than 100,000 sworn LEOs. Yet only a relatively few lightly equipped Capitol Hill police were on duty. Compare that to the George Floyd protests.
The vast majority of Black Lives Matter protests are peaceful. Occassional "violence" is mainly property destruction. But during the George Floyd protests we saw lavish state violence against peaceful Americans.
BLM protesters were assaulted w/ tear gas, rubber bullets, cops and right-wingers driving cars into them. Beating, shooting, killing them. But since 2017, fascist gangs like Proud Boys have been treated w/ kid gloves by cops. Or thanked by cops, like killer Kyle Rittenhouse.
Where were Bearcats & Humvees w/ .50-cal machineguns? Where were 100s of troops w/ assault rifles, police in battle rattle? Why no steel fencing or kettles? Where were copters and buses to torment protesters for hours w/ no food, bathroom or medication? This is SOP against BLM
This is standard operating procedure ag immigrants, Native Americans, anarchists, socialists. Ferguson, Occupy, Standing Rock, the border. There are no bounds to state violence against the left. So don't buy any BS that today's coup was an intel or security failure.
Liberal state could not recognize violent white nationalists as a threat. This is been happening for years. The Bundys, Charlottesville, Portland, Seattle, Berekley, Philly, NYC, D.C. Its liberal mayors, governors who allow far-right violence. And until 2017, Obama admin.
So the state did not prepare for violent assault on Capitol even though they knew it would happen. Even though Trump openly called for it. Media did not report this was a real possibility. Social media took no action despite the fact their platforms were used to organize it.
The media need to tell the story that sums up Trump's coup attempt: In a white supremacist society, the state does not see violent white nationalists trying to illegally seize power as a threat. But they see Black people demanding to be treated as fully human are a threat. /end/
