Today was jarring. I’m still processing it.
What I will never understand is how a malignant narcissist could inspire the kind of loyalty that would lead to an insurrection.

At this point, I couldn’t care less if someone voted for him (even if they did it twice).
I just hope that for those supporters, there is in fact a line that no president - even one they voted for - can cross.
Better late than never, though sad it had to reach this extreme.

It’s an embarrassment to have our nation’s capitol breached for the first time since the War of 1812.
And yet, it’s not shocking. Trump incited his followers and convinced a majority of them that the election was stolen (it was not).
He is responsible, and he should be removed.

Many of his enablers are distancing themselves, not from some moral enlightenment . .. but because they are cynical opportunists. They realize Trumpism won’t win many elections without Trump himself.

I’m tired of being embarrassed for my country. I’m tired of wondering what my grandfathers, both of them veterans, would think about all this.
Despite its flaws, America has so many aspects to be proud of. We can and must do better.
Here’s hoping today was the low point.
