The denial of America as a longstanding white supremacist state is what we're dealing with here. The premise of America is equality, but reality has never been equal. The more we say "this isn't America," the more we fail at building a country that renounces white supremacy.
This is a deep structural failure and poison, and it has to be acknowledged, and changed. The history of America's white supremacy has to be taught, or it will continue to grow, and to be used as fuel to foment attempts to formally create a fatherland.
This is what the true project of revolution is: renouncing the teachings that insist America's (multiply) genocidal foundation and consistent actions can be forgiven without acknowledgement. The story of America has to change from within, , from heroic, to complicated.
