Back on the 90’s in Orlando we had one of our first small pride parades and marched around Lake Eola. We were misty petrified. Would our boss or our parents see us? Would there be repercussions? But we marched on. At the bend there was a mob of the KKK in full regalia. Taunting.
Jeering. Screaming obscenities and harassing us. We steed ourselves and marched with greater purpose, stronger knowing our goals were just and we were in the right.
Full circle: I’ve had the privilege to work with a team of brilliant young queer organizers from Human Rights Campaign Georgia. Their love, dedication, professionalism and brilliance has given me life and the satisfaction that our goals are in reach -at long last.
Sorry for the typos ...oof
This tiny KKK style mob at the capital today is just as weak and pathetic as those kKK dudes were those many years ago. They don’t matter. Don’t let anyone steal your joy today over the major civil rights victory we have had with electing Warnock and Ossoff.
This capital squabble of left over has been KKK dudes is a typical backlash to major progress. We will restore the voting rights act. We will pass the Equality Act. We will pass stimulus. We will protect trans Americans. We will pass immigration reform. Our dream is manifest.
