American media is calling this an act by Anarchists, they seem to have lost all sense of what words even mean. It is a fascist coup being attempted by a fascistic mob.
In light of this, here are a few things that you could read to better understand the fascists' ideology:
Ur-Fascism by Umberto Eco
A short essay by a man who grew up around the Italian blackshirts, as a child indoctrinated into fascism. Eco gives a "fascist minimum", breaking down the essentials of the ideology and how it differs from Left authoritarianism.

Fascism: What It Is and How To Fight It by Leon Trotsky
A Marxist approach to the fascism of the 20th century, seen through Trotsky's writings. While the title is self-explanatory, Trotsky also highlights key strategic failures of Left parties of the time.

The Anatomy of Fascism by Robert Paxton
Paxton maps out how the fascists shaped societies around them to form their regimes, and from this draws a definition of the ideology. The most comprehensive analysis on the workings of fascism on this list.
